Connecting the Northeast

Our Projects

A proposed bicycle and pedestrian path designed to improve mobility, encourage healthy living, and connect residents with community destinations.

Building a More Connected Neighborhood

The Somers Point Northeast Neighborhood CDC’s implementation plan identifies bicycle and pedestrian improvements as an opportunity to create safer, more accessible connections throughout the neighborhood.

The proposed path would help connect residents with local businesses, recreational areas, schools, community resources, and Somers Point’s broader bicycle and pedestrian network. It would also encourage outdoor activity while making it easier for residents and visitors to explore the Northeast Neighborhood.

The Vision for the Path

The proposed bicycle and pedestrian path may include:

  • A clearly marked route through the Northeast Neighborhood

  • Connections to existing and planned bicycle routes

  • Safer crossings at key neighborhood intersections

  • Directional signs and neighborhood wayfinding

  • Improved connections to Shore Road, Bay Avenue, and New Road

  • Access to parks, businesses, schools, and community destinations

  • Streetscape and landscaping improvements along the route

  • Bicycle racks and other supportive amenities

  • Accessibility improvements for people of different ages and abilities

Help Shape the Path

A successful bicycle and pedestrian path should reflect the needs of the people who live, work, and travel throughout the Northeast Neighborhood. Residents, businesses, cyclists, pedestrians, and community organizations are encouraged to share their ideas and participate in future planning conversations.
